B. Week Two -- Adapting Existing Pedagogies to the Online Environment

STEP 1 --

To begin this process, you will need to be sure that you have a copy of the rubric the class created in Week One of this course. You can download it by right clicking on the link in the Discussion Forum Topic - Group Rubric for Cooperative Learning - for this course and choosing Save target as . This procedure allows you to save the file to your computer in a folder of your choice, or on your desktop.

STEP 2 --

On the same Discussion Board Forum, under the topic Choosing a Pedagogy, indicate which of the following pedagogies you would like to explore and evaluate. Topics are on a first come, first served basis, so if someone else has already chosen a topic, choose another one. Each participant must do one so that our task will be complete (Positive Interdependence). If you have a favorite pedagagy you'd like to evaluate instead of the chosen ones, please indicate that on the discussion forum.

The given pedagogies to explore are:

  • Web Quests
  • Jigsaw Pedagogy
  • Active Learning Strategies
  • Blogging
  • CROP

STEP 1 & 2 need to be done by Tuesday, April 13th

STEP 3 -- Individually evaluate one of the above strategies using the rubric developed in Week 1.

Visit the websites given below, and other resources given for your topic of exploration. While visiting them, fill out the rubric for evaluating that pedagogy.

Attach your rubric to the Discussion Board Forum Topic Completed Pedagogy Rubrics. (Individual Accountability)

STEP 1 & 2 need to be done by Thursday, April 15th

STEP 4--

Using the blank form in WebDrive named Summary of Pedagogy Evals , fill in the portion that applies to your pedagogy. (Shared Responsibility).

STEP 5

As a group, discuss on the Discussion Forum Adapting Pedagogies to Online how the above strategies will adapt to the online learning environment. Give an overview of the pedagogy you explored, and tell the pros and cons for using it in an online environment.

Read the posting by others in the class, and give your viewpoints on their evaluations and suggestions.

STEP 1 & 2 need to be done by Saturday, April 17th
